Ben Aronson
Director
Ben comes to The Hillside with an abundance of enthusiasm and experience, having built a rewarding career combining his two passions: Jewish overnight camp and mental health.
Growing up in Sharon, MA, Ben attended Camp Tevya as a camper, counselor and ultimately as Boys' Head Counselor and Camper Care Coordinator. Regardless of what was going on in Ben’s educational and professional careers, he’s made his way back to camp every summer for the last 27 years.
In addition to his decades-long background in overnight camping, Ben’s extensive clinical training in child and adolescent development will add a whole new dimension to the camper/family/staff experience at The Crest. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Nationally Certified School Psychologist, Ben has worked in elementary and high schools, residential treatment centers and inpatient hospital settings. Most recently, Ben was a Psychology Fellow and Staff Clinician at Mass General Brigham’s Child/Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatry Unit and Neurodevelopmental Clinic.
“The idea that I’ll get to do this every day … providing a space where boys and young men can become their best selves … is a dream come true,” said Ben. “And the fact that I get to do it at Bauercrest, this place with such a storied history, is an honor and a responsibility that I don’t take lightly."
An avid hockey fan, Ben currently lives in Waltham, MA with his wife Lindsey.
