Our Seasonal Team

The people we hire are the most important decision we make each year. We value staff who understand that the small moments are often the ones that matter most. A conversation after a tough game, a joke at the right time, remembering what a kid told them two days ago. We train our staff to pay attention to those moments, to create them, and to recognize that every boy in their care deserves to feel like he belongs here. Skill matters, but character comes first. Every member of our team undergoes a thorough hiring process including interviews, professional reference checks, and background screening, and participates in a full week of staff training before campers arrive.

The people living alongside your son this summer are doing more than watching over him. They are shaping his summer. Our bunk counselors are college students and young adults, many of whom grew up at Bauercrest, came through our Counselor Intern program, and chose to come back. A select group are rising high school seniors who completed additional first-year counselor training before stepping into the role. Others join us from Israel, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and beyond, bringing their own culture and perspective into the bunk and onto the field. From the first morning activity to lights out, our counselors are coaching, challenging, and building the kind of environment where every boy feels like he belongs and knows he is expected to show up for the people around him.

Supporting our counselors is a seasonal leadership team with true depth and experience. Our Head Counselors supervise and mentor bunk staff and serve as the primary point of contact for camper care within each age group. Our Health Center is staffed by registered nurses who are on site around the clock. Our program leads oversee everything from aquatics and athletics to arts, ceramics, and our sports broadcasting studio. Our office team manages the day to day operations that keep camp running smoothly. They are educators, coaches, nurses, and experienced camping professionals who are present, engaged, and invested in the experience of every boy on the Hillside.
